My approach, philosophy, and goals for art education.

In society today, there are many opportunities for isolation, and fear.  In my teaching I strive to assist students in experiencing the security of belonging.  I will teach students to be inclusive towards all other individuals.

Pride in one's self and community is essential for motivation, and autonomy.  Students need to feel capable and important to be successful in all life's endeavors.

Exposing young people to the arts can broaden their understandings and give meaning to the world around them.  Through art perhaps they can find meaning, where there was none for them before.

Original ideas, and creative thinking are the innovations of tomorrow.  Teaching students to solve problems in their own way will give them needed skills for a lifetime of joy and success.
